RMH: Emphasis on Cultural Preservation and Innovation
To members of rockmehiphop.com "where lifestyles mesh and cultures are showcased"
Andy Garcia June 16 at 10:16pm ReplyQuestion: How does each generation grow further away from its roots? How important is the preservation on one’s culture whether it be Hip Hop, Rock, etc?
Our thoughts:
When you think about where you’re from, whether it be the USA or any other country, what comes to your mind? Culturally diverse? Not so diverse? Somewhere in the middle? It is known around the globe that in the USA, we are the “melting pot” of the world. On the other hand, some who are more politically-correct like to call it a “tossed salad” instead. The difference is with a melting pot, it assumes that cultures are being melded and mixed into one uniform culture whereas with a “tossed salad,” it is assumed that every culture is staying true to form and holding onto its roots. But, you know what they say about assumptions...
Let’s stop and think, what is the USA (or the place you call home) becoming? Are we a “tossed salad” or are we in fact becoming the melting pot that we deemed not politically correct. If we look closely, it’s easily noticed that the cultures and traditions being brought to this land are becoming lost in translation...virtually erased. Example? The Native American culture. Older Native generations are fighting the great fight to pass on the pride, spirit and languages of the Native American culture to younger generations only to find that it is going to be extremely difficult to fight the influence of western culture and attitudes. The same trends are playing out throughout the globe. Tossed salads are transforming into pots of melted, indistinguishable mixtures.
Each generation to some degree does grow further and further from its roots. With exposure to newer (and catchier) tunes and modern fashion and trendy art, traditional cultures are being lost slowly but surely. The same influences can be seen in the music culture. Music is forever changing, expanding and progressing and with that, older music cultures are being overrun as well becoming under-appreciated.
Whether it be Rock N’ Roll, Hip Hop, Jazz, and anything in between, preserving culture is essential. If this can be done, it will develop generations of youth that are intellectually-rich and educated all while staying true to their cultures as well as learning how to embrace new ones...whether it be new art forms, new genres of music, or new traditions.
That’s what RockMeHipHop is about. Music, art, culture. Vintage, current, and new. Embracing the past, reveling in the present, and working to cultivate a more culturally-rich future. What can you do?? Join the movement today.

In the mind of Mz. Blunt
I love to write its always been a way for me to vent and deal with all the shit that happens around me. I never really let people read wat i write its usually meant for my eyes n my feelings only but for some reason i dont care any more if u dont like it dont read it!!! Not everything i write is about me n my personal experiences it the words just pops in my head and thats it i have a poem. so please dont ask me to write something u just gunna have to wait till it clicks in my head!! This poem i am about to let u read is a poem i wrote after i experience something so real. although the situation was terrifying the lesson i learned was eye opening.
Title: Mz Blunt
Admire'n the beauty of Gods creations
But, the thoughts of the world w/o rainbows and butterflies builds frustrations
Hopeful that the rich would give their coat to the man in the cold
Or when the truth about a single mothers night job unfolds
she wouldn't be judge for tryna feed her seed
we are force to believe
dat u are a stranger to me
not my sister or brother
we suppose to look out for one another
instead, we turn the other cheek
while she is getting beat
sell crack on your own streets
and disappoint our father with signs of defeat.
see we were never taught religion just religion from the streets.

The Oil Era is a team of people who believe in art.We all are tied into each other somehow because of ART!
Our goal is for this company to come together and create art freely. Some of you are well versed MUSICALLY , others are FASHIONABLE and excel in that area ,while some find their passion in FILMING/PHOTOGRAPHY POETRY etc! What's amazing about this is we are all from the same city. A city where ART is hidden, and I think its time we show the world where we come from before our city is changed to the point that any record or evidence of us ever being there is lost.We can create a company that speaks for us with a voice higher than any one person but as a movement of talent and people who are passionate about our cause!!
Im glad to be aprat of the movement! I cant wait to turn our ideas into reality and make things happen. When working together we can exccel and embrace our talents and ideas into something beyond our expectations. Im not the type to rain on no ones parade. im a strong believer that dreams can come true NO MATTER HOW CRAZY THEY MAY SEEM. setting smaller realistic goals to climb to the top we go. A family like this i KNOW dat we can get things poppin so who is with us diversity is the key !!!

moment in life

MOMENTS IN LIFE - There are momEnts in life when you miss someone so much that you just want to pick them from your dReams & hug them for real. When the door of happIness closes, another opens; but often times we looK so long At the closed door that we don't see the one, which hAs been opened for uS. Don't go for looks, They can dEceive.Don't go for wealth; eVen that fadEs away. Go for someoNe that makes you smile because it take only a smile to make a dark day seem bright. Find the One that makes your heaRt smile. DrEam what you want to dream; go where you want to go; be what you want to be, because you haVe only onE life & one chance to do all the things you want to do. May you have enough happiness to make you sweet, enough tRials to make you strong, enough sorrow to keep you human & enough hope to make you happy. The happiest of people don't necessarily have everything; they just make the most of everything that comes along their way. The brightest future will always be based on a forgotten past; you can't go forward in life until you let go of your past failures & heartaches. When you were born, you were crying & everyone around you was smiling. Live your life so at the end, you are the one smiling & everyone around you is crying. Don't count the years, count the memories. Life isn't measured by the number of breaths we take; but by the moments that take our breath away. NEVER regret a day in your life. Good days bring you happiness; bad days give you experiences. Both are essential to life.
I lost a dear friend of mine on new years eve his name was Adrian. We did alot of crazy shit together we told each other alot of secrets.he was such a loveable person who lived a crazy life style.. he was too young to go but God needed him i believe everything happens for a reason and i am glad that i was able to have him in my life even thou we lived different lives. We remained friends till the day he passed and im glad that he knew i loved him n i knew he loved me back. soo with that sed this poem right here was a poem he gave me in a letter .. he told me wen he read it for the first time it reminded him of me n i live by this poem ever since he gave it to me .. the bold part he told me that this is how he felt wen he was locked up n he couldnt see me .. but now that he is gone this poem will just help me cope with his lost an make me feel alil better n closer to him. because it hurtss me to think about the last time i seen u n the way ur life was taken.. so this poem gives me Peace.
